The Economics of American Heritage is a Good Thing
This story in today’s New York Times is a Travel Piece on southwest Virginia ’s revival of country music, bluegrass and BBQ.
This has historically been one of the most depressed areas of the nation. For Lyndon Johnson’s War on Poverty, this was ground zero. Today’s point. Take the advantages that a region has, develop it, market it and display it in a family friendly way and economic prosperity can take place. No, not Texas style wealth creation that depends upon oil in the ground and lax regulations, but the type of prosperity that comes from developing the real natural resources which are people, culture, heritage and music.
