A group of Billionaires are planning to put a Formula 1 Racetrack in Texas, and are getting $250 million in state aid. At the same time Business Week reports that up to 100,000 state teachers will be losing their jobs because of a huge state budget deficit. The Dismal Political Economist encourages them to become Formula 1 drivers as an alternative career,
Reports are out that Roger Ailes, head of Fox News, thinks Sarah Palin is stupid. Well, he knows here better than the Dismal Political Economist does.
Mr. Dominique Strauss-Kahn has to live in a building apartment owned by the firm that is protecting him (us?) and insuring his return to court. Reportedly the rent is $200,000 per month. The Dismal Political Economist would rent him the extra bedroom for $500.00 per month plus a fee of $10,000.00 a month for putting up with him.
Pirates of the Carribbean took in over $300 million in its opening weekend. We now know why Mr. Johnny Depp was convinced to star in yet another sequel. Just hope he gets a big piece of that.
New Jersey eliminated funding for all family planning centers, including ones that do not provide abortion related service reports Business Week. The New Jersey Governor, who is anti-abortion rights did not explain how this would reduce abortions.
