Two Polls Now Show the Democrat in the Lead
The Special Election for a House seat in a predominately Republican district in western
New York state now has the Democrat ahead of the Republican and a third party candidate.
The newest poll shows Democrat Kathy Hochul with 42%, Republican Jane Corwin with 36% and self designated Tea Party candidate Jack Davis with 13%. The Poll was reported in today’s Buffalo News
The Dismal Political Economist has discussed this race in some detail.
and expected the support for the third party candidate to drop (it had been as high as 25%) but the surprise is the lack of support for the Republican candidate. Since the third party candidate ran previous races as a Democrat, one cannot assume that his absence from the race would have delivered his votes to the Republican. And if the Democrat wins by 6 points or more, it is a safe conclusion that she would have won outright in a two person race.
Wednesday morning we will have the winner, the Monday Morning Quarterbacking and the analysis.
