News That Needs Comments on a Slow News Weekend
The Washington Post’s Chris Cillizza named Wisconsin Rep. Paul Ryan as his winner of the Worst Week in Washington award. It seems Mr. Ryan lost a Congressional race without even being on the ballot. His Medicare replacement plan was the main issue why a Democrat captured a normally safe Republican seat in western New York ’s Special election.
Texas Gov. Rick Perry says he is open to a consideration to running for President. This is the guy who also says he is open to having Texas secede from the Union . Well, Governor, which is it?
Politics shifts from the focus on NY’s Special Election to the Republican race for the party’s nomination. Will Sarah Palin get into the race, and if so, when? Will Newt Gingrich get out of the race, and if so when?
Roll Call Politics said that
Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell said Friday that Medicare must be part of any deal on the debt limit to get his vote — and dismissed concerns that the Republican drive to reform the program would hurt the party at the polls in 2012.
In a related story Sen. McConnell said that he had been out of touch for the last week or so and wondered how the Special Election in New York state had turned out.
