The Chart below shows what is happening as the Greek debt crisis moves forward.
Privately owned Greek debt is being refunded by the Europeans, the European Central Bank and by the International Monetary Fund. Soon they will own more Greek debt than the private sector, and soon after that, a lot more.
When The Dismal Political Economist first proposed that Germany buy Greece in a Leveraged Buy Out, he was using an absurd proposal to make a point about the cost of the bailout, and its probable failure. After viewing that chart he is now wondering if a commission or royalties are available on the idea.
