Michigan Wins 2010 Football Battle with Ohio State (Final Score OSU 37, Michigan 7), and John McCain Elected President in 2008

If Athletics Can Re-Write History, So Can Politicians

The Ohio State- Michigan rivalry in football is one of the great college athletic traditions.  Now because of a cheating scandal involving players selling memorabilia The Ohio State University has decided it would vacate all of its 2010 football wins.

Not only is the entire 2010 season wiped out along with the Sugar Bowl, but so is the university's seven-game winning streak over rival Michigan.

So in 2010 as far as the record books are concerned Michigan beat Ohio State, although no one knows what the score of the game was.

The rationale here is presumably that since Ohio State was using star players who, had the rule infractions been known, would not have been eligible to play in the game,  their victory on the field does not  count.  Former Michigan Footbal Coach Rich Rodriguez, who was terminated after the season ended is quoted as saying see, "I told you I could beat Ohio State."

John McCain, who lost to President Obama in the 2008 Presidential race is said to be studying the situation, and has privately said that if the Federal Election Commission determines any improprieties about the Obama campaign like using ineligible campaign consultants, that he,  John McCain would be declared the winner of the 2008 race.

Others noted that given Mr. Obama’s actions  including expanding the war in Afganistan, initiating military activty gainst Libya, supporting signing statements, extending the Bush tax cuts for high income taxpayers and in recent days supporting massive cuts in federal spending including Health Care, Education, Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid etc,  it was pretty clear that Mr. McCain was elected President in 2008.
