What We Would Like to Say to the Nation’s Leaders

Well, Someone Has to Say It To Them, It Might as Well be Us

Editor’s note:  The DPE will never get to confront anyone of national importance, so when he does this is what he will say to them.

To Speaker Paul Ryan:  Was it really worth it to abandon whatever decency and principles  you have left just to get a conservative Supreme Court Justice and a tax cut for wealthy people?

To Bill and Hillary Clinton:  Bill you could have been a great president but your personal behavior ruined it, and Hillary you should have been president and would have been a great one, but now it is time for you guys to go and fade away. 

To Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell:  Please at some time during the next four years show us that you have at least one original thought or idea in your head instead of just parroting the GOP line.

To Education Secretary to Be Betsy DeVos:  Please visit, study and try to understand the role of public education in America before you start your crusade to destroy  it. 

To Barack and Michelle Obama:  If you just continue your thoughtful commentary and allow the public to contrast your incredible dignity with the disgusting persona of your successor the nation will hold you in even higher regard.

To Joe Biden:    Ditto.

To the Washington Post:  It looks like you are rising to the highest standards of American Journalism.  Keep it up.

To the New York Times:  See comments on the Washington Post and try to keep up with them.

To Kellyanne Conway:  To quote Oliver Cromwell,

 “Go, get you out! Make haste! Ye venal slaves be gone! So! Take away that shining bauble there, and lock up the doors. 

In the name of God, go!”

To Sen. John McCain:  We need the good McCain now, please permanently retire the old McCain.  You have a chance to make yourself back into the highly respected indepedent thinker.  Don't blow it.

To Melania Trump:  You are doing a great thing by maintaining a low profile for yourself and your young son.  Continue to do so and you will be much more highly regarded than your husband.

To Donald Trump and the staff he has assembled in the White House:  Again from Cromwell,

“Ye are a factious crew, and enemies to all good government.

Ye are a pack of mercenary wretches, and would like Esau sell your country for a mess of pottage, and like Judas betray your God for a few pieces of money.

Is there a single virtue now remaining amongst you? Is there one vice you do not possess?

Ye have no more religion than my horse. Gold is your God. Which of you have not bartered your conscience for bribes? Is there a man amongst you that has the least care for the good of the Commonwealth?

Ye sordid prostitutes have you not defiled this sacred place, and turned the Lord's temple into a den of thieves, by your immoral principles and wicked practices?

Ye are grown intolerably odious to the whole nation. You were deputed here by the people to get grievances redressed, are yourselves become the greatest grievance. “

Yep, old Oliver for all his faults knew what Trump and his minions are.
