Think Republicans Won't Pass Their Tax Bill – Think Again

A Few Politicians Playing Silly Games

The news media is all atwitter over possible Republican defections from their tax bill. Sen. Corker of Tennessee is a no, and several other Senators are saying they need changes or they won't vote. But they are just playing for the press, in the end they will fall in line.

Susan Collins is a case in point. To get her vote the Senate Majority Leader promised her some help on preserving health care. But he is laughing out loud, knowing that his promise is worthless, that the House will not even vote on the things Collins wants. The question, is she so naive she doesn't understand this. Probably so, or she could just be looking for a face saving fig leaf to justify her vote.

Senator Rubio is just a big grandstander. He will get some type of minor concession to appease his ego. Other Senators will fall in line, and so a tax cut for the wealthiest, less health care for middle income families and an inflation generating deficit busting tax cut will become law. Soon.
