Because It Must Be Their Fault, Not Hers
There are two signs that a political campaign is in trouble. The first is that it cancels advertising, usually making a statement along the lines that it is “redeploying resources”. The second action is to get rid of campaign staff, particularly campaign management. One telling sign that a key manager was fired, the announcement that he or she was leaving for “health reasons”.
After Texas Gov. Rick Perry entered the race for the Republican Presidential Nomination, the polling numbers for Ms. Bachmann plummeted.
“Among all Republicans and GOP-leaning independents, Perry has edged ahead with 27 percent of the vote, followed by Romney with 22 percent, former Alaska governor Sarah Palin at 14 percent, Rep. Ron Paul (Tex. ) with 8 percent and Bachmann at 6 percent.
Perry’s emergence has cut sharply into Bachmann’s support, putting her candidacy at risk. Her number of backers has been sliced in half, and she now scores significantly worse among those who backed her heading into last month’s big win at the Ames Straw Poll in Iowa.

So Mr. Ed Rollins, a former Reagan aide who was her campaign manager is leaving for “health reasons”. Also leaving is his deputy, David Polyansky, whose health is apparently fine. But not to worry Ms. Bachmann, it is still not too late to run for re-election for your House seat.
