Romney and Santorum Compete to Lose Puerto Rico; George Clooney is Arrested, Rick Santorum Can't Get Delegates on the Ballot . . .

Campaigning in Puerto Rico Mitt Romney reiterated that he opposed Justice Sotomayor because he did not like her judicial philosophy (which really has not become apparent yet). 

"In looking at Justice Sotomayor, my view was her philosophy is quite different than my own and that's the reason why I would not support her as a justice for the Supreme Court," Romney said. "I would be happy to have a justice of Puerto Rican descent or a Puerto Rican individual on the Supreme Court, but they would have to share my philosophy, that comes first."

Yes, being Mitt Romney he could not resist getting in a bit of pander ("Puerto Ricans are people my friend" he might have said).  Meanwhile Rick Santorum has also offended the Puerto Rican community with his call for making English their “official language” before they could be considered for statehood.

So one can conclude, that without even seeing the ballot, the Republican primary in that state will ask voters to select the candidate who is least obnoxious.  Not an easy choice.

Movie star George Clooney was arrested in Washington in connection with his protest against starvation in Africa.  While two police officers cuffed Mr. Clooney, three others asked for his autograph and four others handed him screenplays.  Lawmakers in D. C. were too busy to talk about starvation in Africa, as they were consumed with the question of whether or not requiring women to receive permission from their husbands in order to drive a car.

Rick Santorum is favored in his home state of Pennsylvania, but as Taegan Goddard reports, it turns out that like in many other states Mr. Santorum has been unable to get his delegates in a row. 

The Daily: "The problem for Santorum springs from the fact that potential delegates in Pennsylvania run on a primary ballot uncommitted to any presidential candidate -- meaning voters won't know who they'll support at the convention this summer... Romney, Ron Paul and even Newt Gingrich got some of their supporters on the ballot as delegate candidates. But Santorum's campaign officials, who have struggled with ballot organization issues across the country, privately concede that they just didn't have the time, nor resources, to organize their own supporters to run as delegates when the paperwork was due earlier this year."

So while he may win the state’s vote, he may not get many delegates for the nomination, allowing Mr. Romney to also claim victory.  And this man hope to be President?  Of What, the local Kiwanis club?  (No, this is not meant to be an insult to the Kiwanis).

Yes, gas prices are high and yes they are expected to increase.  But this is not the answer.
