With Condoleeza Rice Now Visible at the Masters Tournament, We Think Our Advice to Members is Needed

AUGUSTA, GA. -- Condoleezza Rice has been everywhere the past three days at Augusta National Golf Club, apparently making up for lost time, not just for herself, but for 51% of the U.S. population.

The former U.S. Secretary of State played a round of golf Sunday with Phil Mickelson, then said a warm hello to Tiger Woods, who used the word "fantastic" twice Tuesday to describe the fact that the club that hosts the Masters finally has two women members. On Monday morning, Rice was spotted in her new green jacket greeting spectators at the club's exclusive new hospitality center behind the fifth green, according to theAugusta (Ga.) Chronicle. Then, Tuesday afternoon, a security guard near the first tee was marveling about just how visible she was.

Augusta National Golf Club Decides That After Being National Security Adviser, Secretary of State and A More Accomplished Individual Than Almost Any Of Its Other Members

Condolezza Rice is (Over) Qualified to Join the Club

The Master’s Golf Tournament is one of the greatest sporting events in the world.  It is a product of the August National Golf Club, one of the least greatest organization’s in the world.  For decades after everyone else recognize the ugly nature of racial discrimination Augusta refused to recognize African Americans as equals.  They ultimately did so, but steadfastly refused to admit women as members.

This has finally changed.  Augusta National will admit two women,  one of whom is one of the most distinguished individuals of the late 20^th and early 21^st centuries.

Rice, 57, served as national security adviser and secretary of state under President George W. Bush. She is currently a professor at the Graduate School of Business atStanford University, where she has also been provost. Rice was long considered a likely candidate for Augusta National membership if it became open to women.

In an incredible display of arrogance and ignorance, the head of the club seemed positively giddy that the club would actually recognize that women were equal.

“This is a joyous occasion,” Billy Payne, the Augusta National chairman, said in a statement released by the club.

Actually, it is not.  It would have been a joyous occasion 50 years ago.  Today it is an affirmation of the bigotry of the club and the disgust and revulsion that fair minded people have felt for the discriminatory practices of what should have been a prestigious organization.  If Mr. Payne and his fellow members had even a sliver of human decency they would feel great shame that only until now has the club relaxed its ban on women members.  C'mon man, even Mitt Romney recognized that the club was wrong.

We would only ask a couple of  things of August National Members. 

1.  Don't hit on her.

2.  Don't ask her to bring you some extra butter for the rolls.

3.  Don't tell her you remind her of the maid that raised you.

4.  Don't tell her the women's entrance is in the rear.

5.  Don't ask her is she is considering playing a woman's version of 'Driving Miss Daisy'.

6.  Don't ask her if she is Jewish, and then laugh out loud.

OK, not that hard, so please try.

One final mystery that may never be solved.  Why does this accomplished and intelligent woman want to ever be associated with the cretins that run Augusta?
