Here is Some Nice Religious Bigotry from A Conservative Religious Group

Pastor Criticized For Participating in Memorial Services for Newtown Victims

One problem with people who claim to be deeply religious is that they actually have to live up to a moral standard in their lives, and many do not want to.  For example, here is a story about a Lutheran Minister who had to apologize recently.  No he is not apologizing for things like molesting children or bad stuff like that, he is apologizing for doing what religious leaders should be doing.

 Lutheran pastor who participated in an interfaith prayer service inNewtown, Conn., in the days after the Sandy Hook massacre has apologized after being criticized by the leader of his denomination for violating its prohibition against joint worship with other religions.

So what’s the problem?  Oh, his denomination doesn’t believe in that sort of thing.

In the days after the interfaith service, criticism of Mr. Morris mounted within his denomination, the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod, a 2.3-million-member church that is more conservative theologically than the larger Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. The Missouri Synod bars joint worship with other religions, because, it says, participation could be seen as an endorsement of faiths that do not regard Jesus alone as savior or as a suggestion that differences between religions are not important.

The Rev. Matthew C. Harrison, president of the Missouri Synod, called on Mr. Morris to apologize, which he did.

Mr. Morris originally defended himself,

“I believed my participation to be, not an act of joint worship, but an act of community chaplaincy,” he wrote.

But it turns out he is pretty much of a bigot, so the apology he later gave is definitely sincere.  See before the awful events in Newtown

he had spent hours with his congregation educating them about the differences between Lutheran teaching “and the teachings of false religions such as Islam or Baha’i,” 

And as a member of one of those ‘false’ religions The Dismal Political Economist invites Mr. Morris and his bigoted leaders to go and create their own community where only their views are allowed.  If they need to know how to do that, the current nation of Iran presents the perfect model.  As for Mr. Morris, well it turns out he is new to the clergy and hadn't gotten the message yet about religious intolerance.  Now he has.
